October Student Reflection Newsletter

 In Room 1 we had to do an october student reflection newsletter for this month, I was excited to do this because october is a cool month because of HALLOWEEN!!!!!! also if you are going trick or treating tell me what are you going to be for halloween??

I learned about how to write good narratives and learn how to make a really cool flower for my Frida Kahlo Art.

I enjoyed how to make a flower for my art and I enjoyed reading and still are reading the NIGHT BUS HERO!

I found it challenging to make the Kahlo Frida Art and find a good story with narratives in it so I can write in my writing.

Rat Island

 For this week of reading we were learning about how to infer had to write about a book called ''rat island''. We had to write about what made us interested in the cover of the book and what made us interested in the blurb so here's my slide I hope you like it. 

I learned about the blurb and the cover to what makes me interested in the book rat island.

I enjoyed reading the blurb and seeing whats so interesting about the cover rat island.

I found it challenging to write the hypothesis slide.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!!!

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

This week we had to survive from ZOMBIES!, our task was we had to write in a few slides about what we had to do and what we had to get to keep our life safe from this big wide dangerous meat flesh eating creatures. We were all manicing so badly, our water was from ponds that were dirty, very dirty, our weapons we mostly made out of sheepskin. So here's our slides for the zombie apocalypse.

I learned how to survive from the zombie apocalypse.

I enjoyed making the slides and writing everything that I needed to know on how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

I found it challenging to gather all the stuff I needed to help me survive the zombie apocalypse.

 

September Student Reflection Newsletter

This week in Room 1 we are doing our september student Reflection newsletter we had to fill out 6 boxes before we could publish it. I was really excited to do this because there were so many cool things I did throughout the term 3 like my calendar art and tom fedro art also out speeches! so here is my september student Reflection newsletter poster I hope you like it.

I learned through the year about why animals should not be put in zoos and and overcoming my fears when it is my name getting called up to do my speech in front of the class.

I enjoyed doing my calendar art and doing rehearsing for a play.

I found it challenging to overcome my fears when its speech time.

 This week for Room 1 we done our speeches, I was really nervous when my name got called up to go next, but it was fine in the end I got some good positive comments from people in my class and one work on for next time. Three days went past and now its friday! the week has gone extremely fast, but now it's time to get into it, so three days go by and now my teacher said for reading we have to do a screencastify of us reading out our speeches so here it is I hope you enjoy it and if you did leave a nice positive comment! =)

I learned how to get up in front of the whole class and face my fears in doing my speech.

I enjoyed getting the speech done and over with because it is a very hard phobia to overcome as a child. 

I found it challenging to get the right shot at doing my screencastify, and making sure no noise gets in the background.

 In Room 1 we have been learning about sea turtles for our first task we had to make poster of what sea turtles eat, but for our second task we have to sketch out a sea turtle by watching a video then after we had to take a picture of it and post it to out blogs! here's mine.

What eat sea turtles?

 In Room 1 we have been learning about what eat sea turtles and more, I was really excited for this because I really love sea turtles because of how gentle they are and how sweet they are to humans<3 

our teacher told us to write some facts about sea turtles and what eat them! so here's mine and i out five facts in because I didn't really know how much to put in but here it is I really hope you like it. 

I learnt a lot about sea turtles and what eat them and what are there weaknesses.

I enjoyed finding a good background for my presentation I had been working on.

I found it challenging to find facts that were not from wikipedia. 

Cats or Dogs??;

In Room 1 we  have been doing a statement on an argument on what animal is better. The animal was ether cats or dogs, this statement was hard but I chose dogs because well there loving animals you can never say no to there adorable face they make when the get in trouble.

August Student Reflection Newsletter

In Room 1 I have been doing my August Student Reflection Newsletter, I fell asleep half way on doing this task because i was cleaning my room for a very long time so yeah. But I hope you like it!.

I learnt through the month about my time tables and how to make beeswax wrapping.

I enjoyed walking my dog through lockdown and I love taking my August selfie.

I found it challenging to find the times tables I am good with and what I am not good at.   

 

Paralympic game facts

 In Room 1 we have been learning about the paralympic games, for our task we had to write 5 facts about the paralympic games and more so here it is I hope you like it.

I learnt five facts about the paralympic games.

I enjoyed learning about it and watching the video for more ideas.

I found it a bit challenging at the start because i didn't really get it at first.

facts about cats!!

 In Room 1 for this week lockdown tasks we were learning about cats and dogs! since I couldn't choose which animal i should do I just chose cats so here it is and yeah also I did a poster of top 5 really cool cat facts but yeah here it is.

I learnt a lot about cats and what they do for a living!

I enjoyed writing my facts and watching videos.

I found it challenging to find a good font so then its not to big.

In Room 1 for our second day of lockdown we got told to finish off our writing from school on our computer about our favourite arthur, I choose david williams i really enjoyed doing this and filling out all the information boxes. so here it is I hope you like it. 

I learnt a lot about david williams and his date of birth and his childhood and more.

I enjoyed everything about it but I liked the fun fact the most.

I found it challenging to find what his adulthood was.

Lockdown puzzle task

 In Room 1 we had a fun task, this task was a puzzle and it was to relax our brains a bit from all the hard work we've been doing. For me it took probably about 10 minutes max? so yeah but here it is!<3

camouflage lockdown task

 In Room 1 for our second day of lockdown tasks we had to do a camouflage task where we get into something that w can camouflage into. Our teacher Miss Naden told us if we camouflage as any animal we get points for our group but since I didn't wanna copy my sisters design I did my own so here it is I hope you like it! 

the reason why i couldn't get the video is because it wouldn't download i not my drive so i just stuck with a photo. 

robot activity

 In Room 1 we've been learning how to infer and more, for our reading task we got told to think of a robot to solve a big problem around the world! so I choose climate change and I drew a robot for it to. this was a fun and easy task for me to complete.

I learnt about how climate change changed the world and made it a unhealthy earth.

I enjoyed writing some features my robot has to do to get rid of climate change.

I found challenging to draw my robot the best i can and point out where the features are!

The Assumption of Mary

In Room 1 we been doing some lockdown tasks because we went into level 4, our first task for today was R.E religious education for R.E we have been learning about the assumption if mary. God sent down some angels after Mary had died the angels carried for Mary to her tomb.

for our task we had to make a word cloud describing Mary the mother of jesus and god and about her life. I hope you like it.

I learnt how to make a word cloud and choose a shape for the word to go in.

I enjoyed picking some good words for my word cloud and more.

I found it challenging to delete the recent words that was in the little text boxes and already made into word cloud.   

 

Kumarahou plant - Maori Rongoa

In Room 1 we have been learning how to summarise. For this week's reading we have been getting inspiration from native plants we like. Our teacher said for us to pick one and learn about what it does to heal wounds, colds, sore throats, asthma, and rheumatism. I enjoyed this a lot even though I was away on a holiday I still caught up on what my class was learning.
I learnt how to summarise and learn about what plant makes colds better.
I enjoyed taking a tour around the school with Mya and look at all the different plants there was to choose from.
I found it challenging to find the colour of my plant I chose for my background and get the right colour for my words so my viewers can see it better. So here is my presentation of the plant I chose.

my progress in my tokyo mascots 2021

 In Room 1 we are learning about the olympics in tokyo, we have been doing some art on chrome canvas on our chromebooks. It was a bit hard to do because i'm not really that good on a screen but I wanted to give it a try. So I tried my best and here's my progress, I might post a part 2 of my progress because it doesn't have much color or delatil so yeah but here it is I hope you guys like it.  

okay so here it is and what i am using for my animal is a kiwi, tuatara, and taniwha.

I know it's not much but i tried my best.    

I learnt how to use chrome canvas and not do it on paper

I enjoyed thinking of ideas for my mascot and more.

I found it challenging to get the lines mostly straight through out my progress.

2021 Tokyo olympic game slides Room 1

In Room 1 we have been learning a lot about the tokyo olympics 2021 23 july, our teacher made us do this amazing slide about the tokyo olympic games! I really did enjoy it alot and I love learning new stuff every day at school. Our first task was we had to watch 2 videos and read I think about 4 books about the tokyo olympics to get all the knowledge we had to know. Also our learning intention was we had to skim and scan through our reading for those good important bits. So here it is i hope you guys like it!

 In Room 1 for a few weeks we have been creating our own game on this site called gamefroot! but although i haven't really finished it because of how i was talking to others in class rather getting my work done but i tried my best to make it look cool enough to have some feedback hopefully but yeah. June Reflection

For this year in Room 1 we are doing a june reflection this june reflection is for the progress we have done for this year and more! i was really excited to do this because we got to do classmates compliments and other really fun stuff so here it is!

 

 

Financial literacy

 In Room 1 we had a dude come into our class and teach us about Financial literacy, the dudes name was Cellum he was very funny and he taught us about how to be more wiser with money. He gave us a piece of scrap paper each and said ok guys you can pair up in twos or threes or you can do it individual, I choose to do it with my bff Arabella, we decided to do a doggy daycare and take other peoples dogs for walks to get them off their mind and do a good deed for them. We planned it out good and then he said alright its time any brave students wanna come up to the top of the class and say what they have planned for there job? Arabella put her hand up so we got chosen first, I got very nervous because I was up in front of everybody but i knew it was gonna be okay so i tried to be calm. but here it is! tell me if you like it. 

Tom Fedro Art!

 In Room 1 we've been doing some art that got inspired to us from Tom Fedro, We had to do some tasks and learn how to paint by using the two sides from our paintbrush to get all the excess paint off. We had to blend and do long strokes, bright colours, bold lines, and tints and shades to show the direction of where the light is coming from, We had to use our best painting techniques to make it look good.

I enjoyed sketching it out first and then doing a lot of nice bright colours!

I found it challenging to do simple strokes and not be scared to put a lot of paint on our work to make it stand out more for viewers to see!

Measurement tasks

In Room 1 we were doing some measurement with rulers and measuring tape, we got into a pair of 2 and out teacher gave us some stations to work at, i was in a pair with kylah we first started off with our wrist because it was the one that was the least crowded one, then we did the neck then the height then the arm span then the length of our own foot without our shoes on, i did forget the rest on accident but here is the task.  

 

I learned how to measure my arm span and my foot and other things around the classroom.

I enjoyed finishing it and putting it onto my blog.

I found it challenging to work out how many centimeters it was or meters.

Theseus and the Minotaur Evaluate Task

this week in room one we have been reading the Theseus and the Minotaur, it was a very interesting story to read about and i quite would want to read it again, after we have read the story we got onto our task, we had to fill out two boxes and say what we agreed on and what we disagreed on so hee it is and also we got to create our own monster or mithica; creater or a made up god, here its is.   

I learned how to make my own god and write what i agreed and what i disagreed on.

I enjoyed reading the book and learning about theseus and the Minotaur.

I found it challenging to create a good god and try not to copy anyone else work that have typed in.

 How is honey made?

Bees are attracted to honeysuckles, daisies, lavender, thyme, rosemary, herbs, cosmos, marigold, phlox, borage, and sage. 

The type of bees that go out and collect the honey are worker bees, they go out and collect pollen from different flowers. 

After they take the pollen back to the hive, and break it down into simple sugars, they store it in the honeycomb for a few weeks until the bee keepers come and scoop the honey out of the honeycomb and sell it to people and put it in shops.

I learned how to get loads of facts and replace it into my own words.

I enjoyed how to make a diagram on how a bee works and all its features.

I found it challenging to think of a topic until my teacher said i could choose one from the tv.

Differences between countries

This week for reading in Room 1 we have been learning about Different countries, and our teacher said we were gonna do a screencastify of out work so here is mine please enjoy it!

I learned about other people's Differences between other countries 

I enjoyed writing down what i love and what i do in my Dad's countries at christmas time.

I found it challenging to make my screencastify as perfect as i could make it without others talking in it

 

Samoan Art

In Room 1 we have been doing some samoan art because it's samoan language week, we did some really cool patterns with pencil and then craon over it. On sugar paper so this is the results.

I learned how to make cool patterns and speak a bit of samoan and more.

I enjoyed doing the samoan art and dying it.

I found it challenging to make the patterns the same size and more.

In Room 1 we have been doing some art from Mark Crilley, the options were anime and if we didn't want to do anime we got to choose our favourite animal so I chose a penguin here it is tell me if you like it! 

it's not my best but i tried.

I learned how to shade from mark Crilley's videos and more.

I enjoyed finishing it and posting it to my blog.

I found it challenging to get the size of the penguin right and the size of the beak right.

Today in Room 1 we have been learning with Mrs Torrie about making a gif on Piskel so here's my completed sprite i only did it on tuesday and i carried it on thursday, so here it is tell me if you like it!

I learned how to make a sprite and downloaded by pressing the button that shows a picture of a Mountain and a dot that looks like a sun.

I enjoyed drawing my sprite and making it into a gif so i can post it on my blog.

I found it challenging to draw my sprite and make it have good Quality for my viewers.

 

My May reflection

 

we have been reflecting on what we have done in May.

what we had to do was we got our May reflection and double click on the top and change it to our names, second what we had to do is fill out all the boxes and put in a May selfie, and last but not least we did our third and final step we had to blog about it and make a Quality blog post so here it is! 

Jesus Ascension

 For two days in room 1 we have been learning about Jesus Ascension, What we had to do first is go into google drawings and create our own image of Jesus Ascending into heaven so I wanna show you mine and tell me how you think about it? Here it is...

I learnt that jesus Ascension was to go to his father and let his 11 disciples spread his word across the whole world and get people more closer to god.

I enjoyed finding great images to match the scene of jesus Ascending into heaven.

I found it challenging to think if i should draw my image or use some images from search the web.

Anzacs

 this week i was learning about Anzac day and why it so important to us, we are put into reading groups and learn about Anzac day! after we have talked with our teacher about Anzac day and why its so important, we got our Anzac day Activities, after we have received our Anzac day Activities we have to draw a picture of the war memorial statue! after that we had to write in there first course there second course and there dessert, we had to write why is Anzac day so important. Then after we took a picture of it and then write a reflection, here's mine!

my lenten promise

 for the past few weeks room 1 has been doing a lenten promise poster, it was creative and enjoyable. everybody had to get a sheet of paper and colour it and write what they were gonna say in the little boxes. this was kinda a easy task although a lot of people started to lose little pieces of paper around the classroom.  

i found it tricky to take a picture at the right time and angle.

i found it easy to colour it in with nice bright colours.

i found it challenging to make space through my little boxes of prayers and glue it perfectly.

My favourite sport

today for cybersmart we were learning how to use mote.

my topic is my favourite sport.

i found it easy to login to it without frustration.

i enjoyed finding good images and writing my little story or speech about my favourite sport.

i found it challenging to do my voice mote at the right time because everybody was doing it at the same time as i was.  

My favourite sport is swimming, I love it because swimming is a great exercise, and i go to enterprise every tuesdays and thursdays, i walk across the bridge with my friends josh and charlotte

Sea Week!!!

 

i learned that the room 1 students are learning to make connections between what we read.

i enjoyed finding 5 interesting facts about Sea life and plastic and also how it can affect the ocean.

i found i challenging to find good colours for the text so then the background is not to bright or dark for the reader to read.

classmate favourite Animals, room 1 class data!

for the the past few two weeks in room 1 i was learning how gather, sort and display multivariate data. in our class so many students were collecting data from others to make this really cool creative graph to show how many people like this or that. we had to ask so many people in our classroom, and it did take a lot of time to get so many answers from them. we all got our maths books out and we had to write on the next page one topic to get data from. we had to use tally marks to count how many points each question got, and i also found out how many people liked cats, dogs, and even horses. so here's my graph and i hope you like it!

Art-taking photos

 in room 1 we are learning how to take photos of our native trees, bush, and flowers. we basically were looking at how the light shines through the plants. i took all of these photos with my chromebook all though it was kinda tricky but i still worked it out how on to do it at the right angle. i enjoyed looking at trees and all the pretty insects that were around me. so here are my three photos i took, hope u like them all.

KO WAI AHAU? | ABOUT ME

 Hi my name is Maddison and I go to Saint Mary's School. I speak kiwi and a bit of Portugese. I have 4 family members. 

I am in year 6 and listen to my teacher every day at school. I am good at gymnastics, swimming and also jujitsu which is a fighting sport. I enjoy making tik toks and would love to get famous on it. My challenges for this year is being a vet or being a little helper for my mum at her job. And last but not least making my way successfully to Campion College next year. 

I am looking forward to making my blog more interesting for others to read and look at. My achievements this year would be trying to go for house captain and getting first place in Weet-bix Tryathlon. Who inspires me are my parents because they help me with most of my stuff and guide me everywhere I go. I am kinda looking forward to sharing as much as I can to my blog.
